2024 Spring Scurry 5K

  • Starting on March 19, 2024, you and your dog can begin walking/running towards your 5K.

  • The 5K (3.1 miles) can be walked/run all at once for people and dogs who are fit, or you may break your 5K into as many days/sessions as you need to keep you and your dog safe.

  • You and your dog can do the Spring Scurry on your own, with a group of friends and their dogs, or with your AKC FIT DOG club.

  • This Spring Scurry can be done anywhere that you and your dog are welcome to walk/run – in a local park, on a trail, or in your neighborhood.

Monthly Pack Walks

Pack Walks are neutrality-focused group walking sessions for skill building and socialization in safe, judgement-free zones for dogs and their humans, including those with a little spice who may be working on leash manners, excitability, nervousness, or reactivity.
Our approach respects every dog's space, ensuring safety while creating an opportunity for you to enjoy stretching your legs and practice your handler skills.

Workshops

Our canine enrichment toys and social crafting workshops are designed to help pet owners understand the importance of enrichment in their pets' lives. We believe that every pet deserves to live a happy and fulfilling life, and our projects are built around this philosophy. Check out our latest projects and events below, and discover how you can get involved.

AKC FIT DOG Titles!

The American Kennel Club is committed to improving and maintaining the fitness and health of all dogs and their owners. AKC FIT DOG titles were designed to provide a structured, individualized fitness plan that you and your dog can do together.

There are 3 levels of AKC fitness titles—Bronze (FITB), Silver (FITS), and Gold (FITG). Each title requires a specific number of activity points to be completed, which varies based on title level.

Bronze – 5 Points            Silver – 10 Points            Gold – 20 Points

Within each level, there are 6 categories of activities to choose from to earn your points.

AKC Fitness Title Categories:

  1. AKC FIT DOG Course

  2. Runs (community runs such as a Turkey Trot, Spring Scurry, etc.)

  3. Walks and hikes (Independent or Group)

  4. Unique to You and Your Dog (e.g., swimming, Parkour)

  5. AKC title that is fitness related (e.g., FAST CAT, agility)

  6. AKC Parent Club Performance Titles (e.g., pack dog, sledding)

For each of the 3 levels of titles, a minimum number of points must be earned in at least 2 categories for the title to be awarded.

AKC FIT DOG titles are noncompetitive, and dog owners may choose different activities to earn titles.
